AKC Star Puppy Class

8 weeks to 8 months
Bordatella and DHPP required

Our AKC Star Puppy Class is an excellent starting point for young dogs. The course covers essentials such as sit, down, leash manners, recall, “drop it,” and “leave it.” We also guide owners through early challenges like house training, kennel time, grooming habits, and healthy socialization. At the conclusion of the course, your puppy may qualify for an AKC Star Puppy Certificate after a short evaluation.

AKC Intermediate Puppy Class

6 months to 12 months
Bordatella and DHPP required

For pups that are ready to advance, the Intermediate Class expands on the basics with increased focus and control. Dogs practice long distance commands, leash walking with distractions, and settling in busy environments. Our goal is to prepare your young dog for real world situations and build a strong foundation for future achievements, including Canine Good Citizen recognition.

Why Choose Us?

AKC Trick Dog

Eligible for any adult dog with basic obedience
Bordatella + DHLPP + Rabies required

If you have already mastered basic commands like sit, down, and come, it may be time to try something more engaging. Our Tricks for Treats class is designed for owners who want to add variety, fun, and mental exercise to their dog’s routine. We teach a range of enjoyable skills such as the army crawl, spin, shake, high five, play dead, take a bow, and target training. These tricks not only entertain but also strengthen your bond and provide valuable stimulation to keep your dog happy and well balanced. Upon completion, participants may test for the AKC Novice Trick Dog Title, with a Canine Good Citizen certificate counting toward part of the requirement.

We place special focus on building confidence and keeping training lighthearted. Dogs thrive when they are having fun, and owners enjoy seeing their pets succeed at something new. Trick training is a great way to involve family members of all ages in the learning process, encouraging teamwork and patience. It also provides an excellent outlet for energy, helping prevent unwanted behaviors that come from boredom.

AKC Canine Good Citizen

Thursdays at 6:30 pm or Sundays at 1 pm

Any dog over 1 year with basic obedience
Bordatella + DHLPP + Rabies required

Our Canine Good Citizen class is perfect for adult dogs that have a good start and are ready to refine their skills. We cover polite greetings, grooming and handling, walking with distractions, long distance sits and downs, recall, calm behavior around other dogs, and responding well to various distractions. Owners also practice supervised separation to help dogs remain relaxed in new situations. At the end of the class, teams are evaluated on their progress and can earn their CGC title.

This course is ideal for those who want their dogs to represent the best in canine manners or plan to explore therapy or service work. The Barking Lot in Liberty Lake is trusted by local pet owners for our consistency, compassion, and personal connection. Here, your dog is more than just another class participant—they are part of a caring community where we work together toward long term success.

Very cool doggy daycare set up! Great big indoor area to play and a turf area outside. Only a couple friends to play with so far as they’ve only been open a week but my puppies had a good time!

I had the pleasure of accompanying a friend to drop off her rescue foster for boarding yesterday. I was so impressed with the facility. The set up is incredible. It is family owned and the family is amazing! They are not only very knowledgeable about dog’s needs and behaviors but they are truly passionate about animals. A friend of mine recommended The Barking Lot for my Boxer Dolly, to burn off some extra energy. He was so pleased with the place that I didn’t hesitate at all and scheduled a tour. I was totally impressed with this brand new facility. It was spotless! There are huge indoor and outdoor play areas. The dogs were having fun playing ball and climbing on a miniature gym set. I took Dolly in a couple days later and she came home happy and tired as heck. The staff is very professional and gave me a full verbal report of how her day went. Needless to say she had a blast and was a perfect lady. You’ll love to bring your dog here …. I promise.
