AKC Star Puppy Class
8 weeks to 8 months
Bordatella and DHPP required
Our AKC Star Puppy class sets young dogs on the path to good behavior. Skills include sit, down, leash handling, recall, “drop it,” and “leave it.” We guide owners through potty training, kennel habits, grooming basics, and safe socialization. At the end of the course, pups may earn the AKC Star Puppy Certificate after a brief evaluation.
AKC Intermediate Puppy Class
6 months to 12 months
Bordatella and DHPP required
This course builds on early training, adding skills like long distance commands, improved leash manners, and maintaining focus around distractions. We prepare both owner and dog for everyday challenges and create a strong base for Canine Good Citizen readiness.
AKC Trick Dog
Open to adult dogs with basic obedience
Bordatella, DHLPP, and Rabies required
If your dog already has a solid grasp of sit, down, and recall, our Tricks for Treats program in Hauser is the perfect way to keep building their skills while strengthening your bond. This is more than just a fun activity, it is also a great way to give your dog mental and physical exercise that keeps them engaged and reduces unwanted behaviors. A tired, focused dog is a happy dog, and this class helps you achieve that balance while having a great time together.
During class, we work on a variety of entertaining and useful tricks such as the army crawl, spin in a circle, shake, high five, play dead, take a bow, and target training. We also encourage creativity and can help you develop personalized tricks to show off to friends and family. Every session is positive, upbeat, and designed to make training a joyful experience for both you and your dog.
At the completion of the course, students have the opportunity to be evaluated for the AKC Novice Trick Dog Title. Having a Canine Good Citizen (CGC) on file counts toward half of the requirements for earning this title. This makes our Tricks for Treats program a fun way to work toward a recognized achievement while spending quality time with your pet.
AKC Canine Good Citizen
Thursdays at 6:30 pm or Sundays at 1 pm
Open to dogs over 1 year with basic obedience
Bordatella, DHLPP, and Rabies required
Our Canine Good Citizen (CGC) program is for dogs that have mastered the basics and are ready to refine their manners in real-world situations. This class focuses on creating calm, confident dogs that can be trusted in a variety of public settings. We cover polite greetings with strangers, accepting handling and grooming, loose leash walking through distractions, maintaining sit or down from a distance, and responding appropriately to other dogs. We also prepare dogs for supervised separation and handling unexpected distractions without stress.
Graduates are evaluated on their skills and temperament, and successful teams earn their CGC certification. This is an excellent foundation for anyone considering therapy dog work, service dog preparation, or simply wanting their pet to be a role model in the community.

Very cool doggy daycare set up! Great big indoor area to play and a turf area outside. Only a couple friends to play with so far as they’ve only been open a week but my puppies had a good time!
I had the pleasure of accompanying a friend to drop off her rescue foster for boarding yesterday. I was so impressed with the facility. The set up is incredible. It is family owned and the family is amazing! They are not only very knowledgeable about dog’s needs and behaviors but they are truly passionate about animals. If you are needing to board your pet or looking for a doggie daycare The Barking Lot is THE place to go.

I can’t say enough good things about Paige & her team at Spokane’s Newest Doggy Daycare, The Barking Lot! This indoor/outdoor facility is top tier & only twenty minutes from Downtown Spokane. I’m so excited about this great addition to our community.
A friend of mine recommended The Barking Lot for my Boxer Dolly, to burn off some extra energy. He was so pleased with the place that I didn’t hesitate at all and scheduled a tour. I was totally impressed with this brand new facility. It was spotless! There are huge indoor and outdoor play areas. The dogs were having fun playing ball and climbing on a miniature gym set. I took Dolly in a couple days later and she came home happy and tired as heck. The staff is very professional and gave me a full verbal report of how her day went. Needless to say she had a blast and was a perfect lady. You’ll love to bring your dog here …. I promise.
My dog loves going here! Everyone is so welcoming and helpful. Bring your furry family for great care!
