AKC Star Puppy Class
8 weeks to 8 months
Bordatella and DHPP required
Our AKC Star Puppy Class gives young dogs the perfect start. We work on basic skills like sit, down, leash training, recall, “drop it,” and “leave it.” We also guide owners through potty training, kennel habits, grooming, and safe socialization. At the end of the course, pups can qualify for the AKC Star Puppy Certificate after a short evaluation.
AKC Intermediate Puppy Class
6 months to 12 months
Bordatella and DHPP required
For dogs ready for the next stage, our Intermediate Class focuses on building duration, control, and focus. Skills include long-distance commands, proper leash manners, and attention around distractions. We help you prepare your dog for everyday challenges and lay the groundwork for Canine Good Citizen certification.

Our Tricks for Treats class is an exciting way to keep your dog active and engaged. We teach entertaining tricks like army crawl, spin, shake, high five, play dead, take a bow, and target training. These activities bring joy to both owners and dogs while reinforcing focus and communication. Graduates can be tested for the AKC Novice Trick Dog Title, with the Canine Good Citizen certificate counting toward the requirements.
Trick training is more than just fun. It helps strengthen the bond between dogs and their owners, gives a healthy outlet for energy, and keeps training sessions positive. Our instructors walk you through each trick in a supportive environment, celebrating progress along the way. Many owners find that learning new tricks deepens their relationship with their dog.
AKC Canine Good Citizen
Thursdays at 6:30 pm or Sundays at 1 pm
Any dog over 1 year with basic obedience
Bordatella + DHLPP + Rabies required
This program is for dogs that already have the basics and are ready to advance. Lessons include polite greetings, calm grooming, leash walking with distractions, recall in different settings, proper interaction with other dogs, and supervised separation.
At the conclusion of the program, dogs and their handlers can take the CGC test to show proof of good manners and behavior. This certification is also a strong first step for those who want to pursue therapy or service dog work. The Barking Lot in Post Falls is dedicated to helping every dog and owner reach their goals through consistent, patient, and compassionate training.

A friend of mine recommended The Barking Lot for my Boxer Dolly, to burn off some extra energy. He was so pleased with the place that I didn’t hesitate at all and scheduled a tour. I was totally impressed with this brand new facility. It was spotless! There are huge indoor and outdoor play areas. The dogs were having fun playing ball and climbing on a miniature gym set. I took Dolly in a couple days later and she came home happy and tired as heck. The staff is very professional and gave me a full verbal report of how her day went. This place is amazing From the office help to everyone in the playground They all seem like they communicate very well with each other and can bounce back back-and-forth from playground jobs to office Most importantly My dog loves this place Which makes me a very happy dog, dad. I had the pleasure of accompanying a friend to drop off her rescue foster for boarding yesterday. I was so impressed with the facility. The set up is incredible.
