AKC Star Puppy Class
8 weeks to 8 months
Bordatella and DHPP required
Our AKC Star Puppy class introduces essential skills including sit, down, leash walking, recall, “drop it,” and “leave it.” We also assist new owners with crate training, housebreaking, grooming, and safe socialization with people and other dogs. At the end of the course, puppies can be evaluated for the AKC Star Puppy Certificate.
AKC Intermediate Puppy Class
6 months to 12 months
Bordatella and DHPP required
This class builds on the basics by adding more focus, longer durations, and improved control. Dogs learn advanced leash manners, long distance commands, and how to remain calm in distracting situations. This prepares both the owner and the dog for real world experiences and sets the stage for Canine Good Citizen testing.
AKC Trick Dog
Eligible for any adult dog with basic obedience
Bordatella + DHLPP + Rabies required
Our Tricks for Treats program offers a fun and engaging way to keep your dog active and mentally stimulated. This class teaches entertaining tricks such as army crawl, spin, shake, high five, play dead, take a bow, and target training. These activities are enjoyable for dogs and owners while also reinforcing focus and communication. Graduates can test for the AKC Novice Trick Dog Title, with a Canine Good Citizen certificate counting toward part of the requirements.
We believe trick training is a great way to deepen the bond between dogs and their families. It provides a healthy outlet for energy, prevents boredom, and keeps the training experience positive. Our instructors guide you through each skill while creating a safe and encouraging atmosphere. The excitement of seeing your dog perform new tricks is a reward in itself, and many owners find that the shared experience strengthens their relationship.
AKC Canine Good Citizen
Thursdays at 6:30 pm or Sundays at 1 pm
Any dog over 1 year with basic obedience
Bordatella + DHLPP + Rabies required
This program is for dogs that already understand the basics and are ready to advance their skills. Training covers polite greetings, calm handling during grooming, leash walking through distractions, recall in various environments, appropriate interactions with other dogs, and supervised separation.
At the end of the course, you and your dog can test for the CGC title, which demonstrates good behavior and manners. This achievement is also a valuable first step for those considering therapy or service dog work. The Barking Lot in Otis Orchards is dedicated to guiding dogs and owners toward success with consistent, patient, and compassionate instruction.
Very cool doggy daycare set up! Great big indoor area to play and a turf area outside. Only a couple friends to play with so far as they’ve only been open a week but my puppies had a good time!
I can’t say enough good things about Paige & her team at Spokane’s Newest Doggy Daycare, The Barking Lot! This indoor/outdoor facility is top tier & only twenty minutes from Downtown Spokane. I’m so excited about this great addition to our community.
Krypto is going through anxiety/ kennel training & is doing amazingly well: I am very impressed & appreciative for the training that he is receiving. A+
This place is amazing From the office help to everyone in the playground They all seem like they communicate very well with each other and can bounce back back-and-forth from playground jobs to office Most importantly My dog loves this place Which makes me a very happy dog, dad. I had the pleasure of accompanying a friend to drop off her rescue foster for boarding yesterday. I was so impressed with the facility. The set up is incredible. It is family owned and the family is amazing! They are not only very knowledgeable about dog’s needs and behaviors but they are truly passionate about animals. If you are needing to board your pet or looking for a doggie daycare The Barking Lot is THE place to go.
A friend of mine recommended The Barking Lot for my Boxer Dolly, to burn off some extra energy. He was so pleased with the place that I didn’t hesitate at all and scheduled a tour. I was totally impressed with this brand new facility. It was spotless! There are huge indoor and outdoor play areas. The dogs were having fun playing ball and climbing on a miniature gym set. I took Dolly in a couple days later and she came home happy and tired as heck. The staff is very professional and gave me a full verbal report of how her day went. Needless to say she had a blast and was a perfect lady. You’ll love to bring your dog here …. I promise.
