AKC Star Puppy Class

8 weeks to 8 months
Bordatella and DHPP required

Our AKC Star Puppy class is a fun and engaging way to start your pup on the right path. We focus on teaching important skills like sit, down, leash basics, recall, drop it, and leave it. We also help new dog owners with potty training, kennel routines, grooming, and safe puppy socialization. At the end of the course, your pup may earn an AKC Star Puppy Certificate after a brief evaluation.

AKC Intermediate Puppy Class

6 months to 12 months
Bordatella and DHPP required

For pups ready to move forward, our Intermediate Class builds on the foundation by adding duration, focus, and control. Dogs learn long distance commands, leash manners, distraction focus, and how to settle in a variety of situations. We help prepare you and your young dog for everyday challenges and set the stage for Canine Good Citizen status.

Why Choose Us?

Eligible for any adult dog with basic obedience
Bordatella, DHLPP, and Rabies required

Are you a star student? Already know sit, down, and come when called? That is old news, right? If you are looking for something fun and different to keep you and your dog busy, consider joining our tricks class. This one is purely for continuing the bond with your dog and it is super fun. Adding some mental and physical stimulation to your dog’s day will help make them tired, which will make you a happy pet parent. In our Tricks for Treats class, we work towards teaching new and fun things to show off to all your friends. Who does not like to have a fancy feather in their hat? Some of the things we will learn in class include army crawl, spin in circles, shake, high five, play dead, take a bow, target training, and more. At the completion of class, students are eligible to be evaluated for their AKC Novice Trick Dog Title. CGC on file counts for half the requirements towards your first Trick title.

AKC Canine Good Citizen

Thursdays at 6:30 pm or Sundays at 1 pm

Any dog over 1 year with basic obedience
Bordatella, DHLPP, and Rabies required

This class is geared towards adult dogs who have the foundations down and want to expand on their knowledge. Maybe you are wanting to polish their skills to become an example for the neighborhood of being the best dog. In the CGC class, we will cover appropriate introduction to strangers, handling and grooming, loose leash walking with distractions, distance sit or down, recall, and appropriate reaction to other dogs. We will also practice supervised separation and handling various distractions. At the completion of class, the teams will be evaluated on their knowledge and dedication to completing their tasks. This class is a great start for those wanting to do Therapy or Service Dog Work too.

Testimonials

  • A friend of mine recommended The Barking Lot for my Boxer Dolly, to burn off some extra energy. He was so pleased with the place that I didn’t hesitate at all and scheduled a tour. I was totally impressed with this brand new facility. It was spotless! There are huge indoor and outdoor play areas. The dogs were having fun playing ball and climbing on a miniature gym set. I took Dolly in a couple days later and she came home happy and tired as heck. The staff is very professional and gave me a full verbal report of how her day went. Needless to say she had a blast and was a perfect lady. You’ll love to bring your dog here …. I promise.

  • Very cool doggy daycare set up! Great big indoor area to play and a turf area outside. Only a couple friends to play with so far as they’ve only been open a week but my puppies had a good time!
