AKC Star Puppy Class
8 weeks to 8 months
Bordatella and DHPP required

This class introduces important skills such as sit, down, leash basics, recall, drop it, and leave it. We also guide new owners through house training, crate use, grooming, and safe socialization. Puppies that meet the class requirements may earn their AKC Star Puppy Certificate after an evaluation.

AKC Intermediate Puppy Class
6 months to 12 months
Bordatella and DHPP required

Our Intermediate Puppy Class strengthens obedience by adding longer commands, leash manners, improved focus, and the ability to settle in different situations. This is also an excellent step toward earning the Canine Good Citizen title.

Why Choose Us?

AKC Trick Dog

For adult dogs with basic obedience
Bordatella, DHLPP, and Rabies required

Our Tricks for Treats class in Spokane Valley is designed to keep dogs active, engaged, and happy. We teach fun skills such as army crawl, spin, shake, high five, play dead, take a bow, and target training. These tricks entertain, challenge, and reinforce communication between owner and dog. Graduates can test for the AKC Novice Trick Dog Title, and a Canine Good Citizen certificate counts toward part of the requirements.

We believe trick training is an enjoyable way to deepen the bond between dogs and their families. It channels energy into positive activities, prevents boredom, and creates a stronger working relationship. Our trainers guide each step with encouragement and clear instruction so dogs feel confident learning new skills.

Beyond fun, trick training often results in better behavior overall. Dogs that focus on commands during class tend to show more self control in everyday life. They may greet guests politely, remain calm during grooming, and follow instructions more reliably. This program also gives owners a sense of accomplishment as they see their dogs master each skill.

AKC Canine Good Citizen
Thursdays at 6:30 pm or Sundays at 1 pm

For dogs over 1 year with basic obedience
Bordatella, DHLPP, and Rabies required

This class helps dogs refine existing manners and build reliability in real world situations. Training includes polite greetings, calm handling for grooming, walking politely on leash near distractions, maintaining distance commands, recall in different environments, and friendly interactions with other dogs. Teams also practice supervised separation to ensure dogs stay relaxed when apart from their owners.

At the end of the course, participants may test for the CGC title, which is recognized as a standard of good manners in public settings. This achievement can also serve as the foundation for therapy or service dog training. The Barking Lot in Spokane Valley is committed to guiding every dog and owner toward these goals with consistent instruction, patience, and care.

Very cool doggy daycare set up! Great big indoor area to play and a turf area outside. Only a couple friends to play with so far as they’ve only been open a week but my puppies had a good time!

A friend of mine recommended The Barking Lot for my Boxer Dolly, to burn off some extra energy. He was so pleased with the place that I didn’t hesitate at all and scheduled a tour. I was totally impressed with this brand new facility. It was spotless! There are huge indoor and outdoor play areas. The dogs were having fun playing ball and climbing on a miniature gym set. I took Dolly in a couple days later and she came home happy and tired as heck. The staff is very professional and gave me a full verbal report of how her day went. Needless to say she had a blast and was a perfect lady. You’ll love to bring your dog here …. I promise.
